Marisa Wampler, M.B.A., J.D.

Marisa WamplerMarisa Wampler is the Assistant Director of the Conservation Biology Institute. She became a member of the CBI team in August 2002. Marisa's main areas of responsibility are financial management, reporting and project tracking.

Marisa has a BA in Zoology from Oregon State University. After graduation, she did a one-year medical technology internship and worked as a medical technologist in both a large trauma center and a reference laboratory in the Mid-Willamette valley. In the trauma center, Marisa supervised twenty-five technical and support employees. Her areas of expertise were blood banking and personnel management.

She later earned her MBA and JD in a joint degree program at Willamette University. She practiced law in the areas of estate planning, real estate and small business start-up and operation. In the private business sector, Marisa was controller for a large reference laboratory. She was responsible for budget process, financial reporting and analysis, and audits. She had strategic planning project assignments ranging from software selection to policy implementation. Most recently, she was chief financial officer for a public charter school and set up all of the financial and auditing procedures and policies.

Marisa enjoys travel and outdoor activities such as biking, canoeing, gardening and hiking. Both domestic and wildflowers are of particular interest to her.
