John Vankat
John Vankat earned an A.B. in biology from Carleton College and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in botany from the University of California, Davis. He taught and researched plant ecology at Miami University for 31 years, before retiring and moving to Flagstaff, Arizona, where he served as an ecologist with Grand Canyon National Park for four years, conducting research and bringing research to bear on management issues. John remains active in research and writing. His conservation biology interests include vegetation ecology, disturbance ecology, invasive species, natural areas management, and education. CBI Board member since 2006.
