Science Advisors
Science Advisors
CBI is relying on a group of independent science advisors to ensure we are using best available data and methods for this project. In addition to a “core” group of advisors, which is expected to attend science advisory meetings and provide extensive input and review throughout the process, we can also call on the expertise of an “extended” group of advisors for input and review of particular issues.
Core Science Advisor Group
We currently have eight advisors in the core group. They cover diverse areas of expertise essential to meeting this project’s goals.
David Graber – National Park Service – Sierra Nevada wildlife ecology and national park management
Jan Van Wagtendonk – U.S. Geological Survey – fire ecology and management
Robert Heald – University of California, Berkeley – silviculture
Frank Davis – University of California, Santa Barbara – landscape ecology/computer modeling
William Zielinski – USDA Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Research Station – fisher biology
Reginald Barrett – University of California, Berkeley – fisher biology
David Mladenoff – University of Wisconsin – vegetation dynamics modeling (LANDIS)
Keith Aubry – USDA Forest Service, Pacific Northwest Research Station – fisher biology
Extended Science Advisor Group
We currently have two members of the extended group of advisors, which offer additional expertise in fire ecology in the Sierra Nevada.
Scott Stephens – University of California, Berkeley – fire ecology
Carl Skinner – USDA Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Research Station – fire ecology
