Micronesia Challenge Scorecard Viewer
The US Forest Service (USFS) supports US Pacific islands and territories with Forest Inventory Analysis (FIA) monitoring. The USFS is developing a “scorecard” to compare protected areas across the entire Pacific Micronesian Islands. CBI is collaborating with them to develop a simple online viewer for the scorecard analysis data. The viewer will be launched by September 2018. This modest initiative contributes to the “The Micronesia Challenge” which is a commitment by the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Republic of Palau, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands to preserve the natural resources that are critical to the survival of their cultures and livelihoods. The overall goal of the Challenge is to effectively conserve at least 30% of the near-shore marine resources and 20% of the terrestrial resources across Micronesia by 2020.
