Using Traditional Ecological Knowledge in Community-Based Biodiversity Protection

Priyanka Bista and Rajeev Goyal Esq., co-founders of KTK-BELT, explain their innovative mission to catalyze new models of biodiversity conservation and environmental learning in eastern Nepal. KTK-BELT works with teachers, farmers, youth, and women to create a 'Vertical University' that will span from Koshi Tappu Kanchenjunga (8,586 m.), the third tallest peak in the world. This "living classroom" spans some of Nepal's most remarkable plants, birds, and mammals, which are in critical need of protection.
