Associate
Patrick R. Huber, Ph.D., is a conservation scientist, conservation informatics practitioner, and Founder and Director of the Center for Conservation Informatics at the University of California, Davis Institute of the Environment. For more than two decades, his work has focused on advancing biodiversity conservation and sustainable land-use planning through the integration of ecology, geospatial science, and decision-support systems. A major new initiative that he is pursuing is facilitating the emergence of a global Internet of Conservation (IoC), an AI-enabled cyberinfrastructure initiative designed to connect conservation data, models, organizations, and workflows through interoperable digital ecosystems. Dr. Huber has led and contributed to numerous regional conservation assessments, wildlife connectivity analyses, sustainability initiatives, and environmental planning efforts across California and beyond, working with government agencies, NGOs, researchers, and private-sector partners to translate complex environmental data into actionable conservation outcomes. His current work focuses on building next-generation conservation infrastructure that accelerates collaboration, improves decision-making, and supports durable solutions for biodiversity, climate resilience, and working landscapes.
