Natural disasters are a potential threat at all scales and geographies, affecting both people and nature. Join us as we discuss examples from a few of Conservation International’s geographies of natural disasters and the role of GIS in understanding and responding to them. Colleagues from CI’s Bolivia and Brazil programs will share their experiences with the role of both floods and fires in Bolivia, and the most recent fire season in the Brazilian Amazon. Scientists in the Betty and Gordon Moore Center for Science will also briefly discuss how they applied their respective research areas in the diversity and dynamics of land governance, global commodity supply chain transparency, and near-real time fire detection monitoring and reporting to respond to the 2019 Amazon fire season.

CBI presents this webinar in partnership with the Society for Conservation GIS (SCGIS). To learn more about this organization, please visit https://www.scgis.org/.
