Ecological restoration: developing a knowledge base for application to historic oak-pine savanna
This project will identify ways to reduce wildfire hazard and the loss of imperiled ecosystems by exploring the joint effects of climate and land use changes in western Oregon’s Willamette Valley Ecoregion.
The modeling component includes several types of models including:
- dynamic global vegetation model (MC1)
- state and transition model (VDDT)
- biometrical model (Forest Vegetation Simulator)
- fire model (FLAMMAP)
- agent-based decision model (Envision)
CoPIs are Dominique Bachelet (CBI), Bart Johnson, Scott Bridgham and David Hulse (U of Oregon), John Bolte (OSU), and Alan Ager (USDA Forest Service) with funding from NSF.
